The boys were brought to us at 9:00 this morning. After a quick change (we gave the things they were wearing back to the social worker), an exchange of papers and signed 2 papers, the social worker left and we had our two boys.
Okay, now what to do? The room we were supposed to move into today wouldn't be ready until around noon and the room we were in was rather small. Around 10:45, the reception desk called to say that our room was ready! Rachael went down to get the keys while Chris stayed with the boys and packed up. Thankfully the room was just down the hall! So much easier to move everything! David even helped carry some things. Michael just looked confused.
So far today we have experienced several firsts:
*David had a melt-down when he realized that we wouldn't let him leave the room
*Both boys seemed to like the animal crackers they had for a morning snack
*We had a nice walk to Uno Momento for lunch; we had assorted meat pizza and the boys had chicken nuggets and french fries
*David proceeded to spit up some of his lunch because he was eating too fast and tried to drink apple juice at the same time
*David fell asleep for about 10 minutes at the restaurant
*As we were leaving, Michael had a massive blowout in his diaper
*Rachael carried Michael back to the hotel where he proceeded to pee again, which overflowed his already full diaper (of course this happened just as we got off the elevator and headed to the room)
*Chris had his first experience with a really nasty poopy diaper (he proceeded to throw up in the bathroom as Rachael cleaned up Michael in the bathtub)
*Rachael washed out the wet pants and socks so that Michael would have another pair of jeans to wear
*Nap time didn't go as hoped (yes, we thought that they would at least lay down for a bit; no, we were not surprised)
*Both boys like to open and close doors, drawers, etc. as well as David turning the lights on and off constantly
We have 'barricaded' ourselves in the sitting area for now. We haven't really decided on much else. There isn't much for the boys to do right now. It is very cold outside and not a lot of places they could play (if any). We have some books, cars, coloring books & crayons but not much else. There isn't really any place to walk either except by the river and we don't want to do a lot of that. Not sure about dinner either. We are almost afraid to go back to Uno Momento because we don't want to have another blowout!
David seems to be fitting the 4T tops & jeans. Michael fits the 2T tops, but the 2T jeans are too big for him. Of course we don't have a belt for him, so he is saggy. Didn't figure on this problem....
The boys seem to be learning how to use the sippy cups we brought. Michael can take the top of the Take'n'Toss cups, so we have switched to the Cars cups with the twist on top. Hopefully he won't be able to get those off. Chris finally found some cartoons for the boys to watch on TV, so I will sign off for now.
Please keep praying for us. We don't have anything on the schedule for tomorrow except for when Rachael gets picked up at 4:45 in the afternoon to go and get their passports. We are thinking it is going to be a LONG day!
