Busy, Busy, Busy

It's been a while since I last posted.  We have been really busy!  The boys are growing and progressing as expected.  They are having fun during the day with Daddy (when they aren't driving him crazy!) and get to spend the evenings with Mama.  We are settling into a routine (which is good), but we are still flexible with it.

We are still having some problem with David's picky eating style.  We are supplementing his meals with Pedia-Sure or Boost Kid Essentials to help with his growth.  Michael gets some as well, just not as much since he will eat just about anything you put in front of him.  Of course, it seems to take forever for him to eat (the record is about 90 minutes).  David, on the other hand, has learned to negotiate how much he eats.  Sometimes we will negotiate with him on how many pieces, bites, etc (we usually start with all and reduce it by 2-3; he starts with 2 and goes up from there), but he is learning when we say 'all of it', we are not willing to negotiate.  Drinking all the milk is almost always non-negotiable.

Chris is learning how to make oatmeal & malt-o-meal for the boys.  So far, it isn't very successful.  He is doing a great job with the boys (even though sometimes he doesn't think so).  Wal-Mart is keeping him busy working 4 nights a week (5-midnight) and with an 8-hour shift on Saturdays.

School is almost out for me.  The last day with the kiddos is Thursday, June 2 and the teacher work day is Friday, June 3.  After that I will be home until school starts again in mid-August.  As far as I know, I will be at the same campus teaching Home Economics.  It will be nice to be at home for a while.  I've missed my boys (all three of them!).

We are in the process of registering David for Kindergarten in the fall.  He will attend the elementary school that is close to our house.  We talked with the counselor about a week ago and she said that they will test him when he enters school in August.  They will test for language, on level with abilities, etc and for speech problems.  I am just hoping that we can work with him more this summer.  He is a stubborn little boy!

Here are some pictures of the boys:

Mother's Day 2011

This year was our very first official Mother's Day!
It was a good day for all ( Chris, the boys and Rachael).

The day started with me waking up to Michael crying.  Apparently he was upset because David's stuffed dog (Sheba) was not covered by the blanket.

Chris went to get donuts and kolaches for breakfast while I got the boys ready for the day.

We all had a good morning at church where the boys made Mother's Day cards for me.

Chris surprised me with roses and a beautiful figurine from the boys.  When he took them shopping, he let them pick it out.  They picked out the one of the mother with 2 boys (about the age/size our our precious little boys).

It is a Willow Tree figurine by Susan Lordi titled
"Quietly (Quietly encircled by love)".

After lunch, we all went back home where the boys had their rest time and I did stuff around the house.  Chris went to his mom's house to take her Mother's Day card and had a good visit with her and Dave.

After Chris got home, we all went out to dinner then did some shopping for school.  My students have started their cooking labs and I had a purchase order to use.

All in all, a good first Mother's Day.
(Of course it would have been nice to get a nap, but apparently Mamas don't get to take naps on Sundays anymore)
